PHILANTHROPY
For over 25 years, alpha Kappa Delta Phi sisters have raised awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer, donating over $1.1M to help the women and families impacted by this disease.
Breast Cancer Awareness
Since 1999, alpha Kappa Delta Phi has proudly supported Breast Cancer Awareness as our national philanthropy. We believe that when women are impacted, entire communities feel the effects. We are committed to raising awareness, promoting education, and funding research year-round.
Each October, in honour of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, every chapter organizes at least one service event dedicated to the cause. From campus workshops and forums to fundraising initiatives and educational booths, our sisters are united in the fight against breast cancer.
Service
With Service as one of the five pillars of alpha Kappa Delta Phi, the Toronto chapter is dedicated to giving back through meaningful, year-round initiatives. Our efforts have included clothing and food drives, educational workshops in May, and collaborations with campus and non-profit organizations. We hold thalassemia awareness close to our hearts, hosting annual blood drives with Lambda Phi Epsilon Fraternity and educational events in honour of #93 Angelina *SSENSE* Nguyen, an alumna diagnosed with this hereditary blood disorder that disproportionately affects individuals of Chinese, Southeast Asian, and Mediterranean descent.
In 2022, sisters Anson *ZINNIa* Ching, #114 Christine *AST3R* Lam, and #117 Hana *amethyst* Tran co-founded With a Thousand Cranes, a project folding 1,000 paper cranes to spread hope and connection.
